Paynes Grey
Paynes Grey is a Series 2 transparent color. It has a masstone of a deep blue grey, with a demin blue undertone. A very useful neutral mixing color, especially when used as a glazing color to soothe a too strident undercolor. This color is available in 80ml, 250ml and 500ml sizes.

Comparing Paynes Grey
Paynes Grey is shown here in two tint shades and a glaze. It is a colour which has been used for a very long time particularly in glazes because it is both transparent and neutral and this allows it to be used to tone down paintings which are too colourful.
